Firms and organizations place a huge premium on these skills because a good presentation is more often than not the determining factor on whether the firm will gain business or lose business. A good presentation will convince and re-assure investors that there investment is safe and secure. It will convince lending institutions to avail monies for development and win the confidence of other business partners.
Manage your State.  Before you present makes sure you are in your ‘presentation zone’. Remember the times when you presented brilliantly, the times you controlled your audience, the times you influenced decisions, the times the participants learned effortlessly etc. and recall those feelings before you start to present.
Own the message. Always totally own the message of the presentation, make it yours and make it in your own words. You have to be totally comfortable with the content you are presenting to present it with impact. Make sure you practice, practice, practice.
Promote
Invest in promotional material. Getting business cards is a necessity, you must have one and carry them with you everywhere. You never know when you will have need arise to share information. Also postcards, banners, flyers, t-shirts, mailers are so useful. Also there are many local classified papers that offer free print ads, as well as, online ads where you can advertise your work. Also if you can wear your product or use it, do so. Many people are curious and may ask where did you buy that, this is an opportunity to promote as well. Don’t be afraid to ask if they are interested in your card and/or may like to visit your website if you have one or go to your next show or event. There is no shame in promotion when done right.
Engage all the Senses. Some people prefer presentations to be primarily visual, some primarily auditory and others primarily through feeling so appeal to all sections of your audience through your use of language, and by structuring the presentation to include visual aids, question and answer sessions and by involvement.
